Srikakulam: Accident claims three lives from one family

Srikakulam: A heart-wrenching road accident occurred near Jakkar in Kanchili mandal, Srikakulam district, claiming the lives of three individuals from the same family.

According to the details, a car carrying the Mutta Venkat Ranga Rajesh family from Seethammadhara, Visakhapatnam, collided with an electric pole early Tuesday morning while on their way to a temple in Jajipur, Odisha. The family, including Rajesh, his wife Lavanya, daughter Neha Gupta, and relatives K. Someshwara Rao's family from Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana, were travelling together.

The tragic incident occurred around 9 am when their vehicle collided with an electric pole near Jakkar in Kanchili Mandal. Lavanya (43), Neha Gupta (18), and Someshwara Rao (49) succumbed to their injuries. While Lavanya died on the spot, the other two passed away while being transported to Srikakulam Government Hospital. Venkat Ranga Rajesh, Someshwara Rao's wife Radhika, and his mother Subbalakshmi were injured in the accident.

The injured were initially treated at Srikakulam Government Hospital, but due to Radhika's critical condition, she was shifted to a private hospital in Srikakulam.

It is learned that the Venkat Ranga Rajesh family was on their way to fulfil a vow after their daughter Neha Gupta secured a seat in IIT when the unfortunate accident took place. Kanchili police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident occurred due to speeding.
