All arrangements in place for counting for Lok Sabha polls in AP: Meena
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Election Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena on Monday said all arrangements were made for the counting of votes at 401 counting halls in 33 centres in the State on Tuesday.
Interacting with media persons to explain the arrangements being made for the successful conduct of the counting process, Meena said as many as 3.33 crore people cast their vote during elections conducted in the State on May 13 and the counting would commence from 8 am tomorrow.
After completion of postal ballot votes, the counting of votes in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would commence from 8.30 am, he explained.
Stating that Section 144 CrPc prohibiting assembly of four or more people at the counting hall was imposed, he said central forces were deployed at the counting centres to prevent any untoward incidents. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed 119 election observers.
Mobile phones would not be allowed at the counting centres, he said adding that if anyone tries to create disturbance at the counting hall would be sent away from the premises immediately. He asked the police department to initiate stringent measures to maintain the law and order effectively during counting of votes.
