Amaravati to be Among World’s 3 Top Cities: Narayana

Kakinada: Capital Amaravati will be among one of three world-class cities, urban and municipal development minister P. Narayana declared here on Tuesday.

Speaking to media after holding a coordination meeting within the ruling alliance partners here, he said on October 29, a committee of chief engineers submitted its report on tenders for building the capital at Amaravati.

Following this, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials concerned to invite tenders by December and complete construction of capital Amaravati city within three years.

The minister said World Bank will loan ₹15,000 crore for constructing Amaravati. Building bungalows for ministers, judges and officials will cost ₹41,000 crore. He pointed out that works on the capital have already begun with ₹30,000 crore.

On the comments of Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on the police department, Narayana said differences of opinion are natural in an alliance. He underlined that to sort these out, there will be coordination committee meetings within the alliance partners wherein welfare, development activities and implementation of government schemes will be reviewed.

The minister said wherever elections have not been held for civic bodies, including Kakinada Municipal Corporation, elections will be announced soon.

He maintained that the previous government had emptied the treasury and pushed the state into a debt trap of ₹10 lakh crore. He underlined that almost every department under the YSRC regime had undertaken debts after mortgaging government properties. But they did not take up any development.

Narayana underlined that the Chief Minister is trying to streamline the economy of the state.

He called upon NDA alliance leaders to ensure the win of graduate MLC candidate from East and West Godavari Perabathula Rajasekhar.

Those present at the coordination meeting included Peddapuram MLA Nimmakayala China Rajappa and former MLA S.V.S.N. Varma.
