Ambedkar statue insulted in East Godavari

The Mala Mahanadu activists expressed concern over the act and staged a stir at the statue

Kakinada: Some unknown miscreants insulted Dr B.R. Ambedkar's statue by placing a garland of slippers at Gandhi Colony in Dubacharla village in Nallajerla mandal of East Godavari district in the early hours of Saturday. The Mala Mahanadu activists expressed concern over the act and staged a stir at the statue. They demanded the government should arrest the culprits.

Gopalapuram MLA M. M. Venkata Raju condemned the act and promised the agitators to take stringent action against the culprits. The Nallajarl police, led by its CI Vijaya Sankar, visited the spot and gathered clues and fingerprints at the spot. A case was registered. Meanwhile, the Mala Mahanadu activists removed the garland and performed Abhishekams with milk to the statue.
