Amit Shah offers prayers at Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy in Tirumala


TIRUPATI: With just days left for the declaration of election results, Union home minister Amit Shah along with his wife Sonal Shah sought the divine blessings of Lord Venkateswara Swamy at the sacred hill shrine in Tirumala on Friday morning.

The family arrived at the temple around 8 am and spent nearly half an hour through various rituals. During the special VIP break darshan, Amit Shah and his entourage offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara inside the sanctum sanctorum.

The home minister also paid obeisance to the sacred golden Dwajasthambham in front of the Vendi Vakili.

Earlier, on his arrival at the main entrance, Shah was accorded a traditional welcome by the temple's chief priests and officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams led by executive officer A.V. Dharma Reddy amid Vedic chants. They then escorted him to the sanctum sanctorum through the main gateway.

After the darshan, a temple official said the priests rendered Veda Aseervachanam on Amit Shah and his wife Sonal Shah at the Ranganayakula Mandapam. The EO presented the couple with a portrait of Lord Balaji, diary, ayurvedic products, laddu prasadam etc.

Shah and his family offered prayers at the Kottai Bhairavar temple in Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, on Thursday. He reached Tirumala, where senior TTD officials welcomed him at Vakulamata Nilayam on Thursday evening.

After an overnight stay in Tirumala, Shah offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara on Friday morning before departing for Rajkot from Tirupati airport.
