Anakapalli Family in China Sets Guinness World Records
VISHAKHAPATNAM: A four-member family from Anakapalli living in China has set multiple Guinness world records in yoga and sports. Konatala Vijay, his wife Jyoti, their 14-year-old daughter Jasmita and their four-year-old son Shankar have all earned spots in the book of Guinness World Records for showcasing their skills.
"We are proud to be the only family in the world to find a place in the Guinness World Record book in the Yoga and Sports category," Vijay told the Chronicle.
In 2021, Konatala Vijay set a Guinness World Record by performing advanced yoga asanas, such as Astavakrasana, Mayurasana and Bakasana, for the longest duration. He has also figured in the Asian Book of Records, India Book of Records and Nobel World Records.
His wife Jyoti also made her mark in the Guinness book in 2021 while staging Vriksasana, Samakonasana, Sirshasana and Mandalasana for the longest time while being full-term pregnant. She delivered her son five days later.
Jyoti declared, "This achievement shatters common perceptions about physical exertion in late pregnancy. When practised under proper guidance, yoga is safe and beneficial for both mother and baby."
Vijay and Jyoti’s teenage daughter Jasmita set the Guinness World Record in June 2024 for the fastest skips on one leg over a rope in one minute.

Not to be outdone, their son Shankar set the Guinness record in October 2024 for the most skips on rope in one minute while on a trampoline. The 129 skips made Shankar the youngest person in the world to achieve such a record in the sports category. He broke the 30-year-old record of Japanese professional athlete Yu Okamoto.
The Konatala family aims to inspire the world through their world records in the Yoga and Sports categories.
