Anakapalli police announced reward on minor girl's murder suspect

Visakhapatnam: The Anakapalli police have announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for assistance in the arrest of Suresh, the accused in the murder of a minor girl in Koppu Gundu Palem village on Saturday.

Suresh, who was previously jailed for sexually assaulting the girl, fatally attacked her at her grandmother's home shortly after being released on bail, police said in its FIR. A total of 12 police teams were put on the job to trace and arrest Suresh.

In April, the minor girl filed a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case against Suresh, leading to his arrest within 24 hours. After spending 65 days in jail, Suresh was released on bail, and according to police, he then targeted the girl at her grandmother's residence.

Hints were that the officials retrieved a 13-page handwritten note written by Suresh from the crime scene. In this, he had written about his plan to marry the victim after his release from jail, with an ultimatum that they would either live together or end their lives.

Anakapalli SP, Murali Krishna, told Deccan Chronicle, "The clues team is actively searching ponds, hidden spots and other potential hideouts. We have also announced a bounty of `50,000 for any information leading to his capture.”

State child rights commission. chairman Kesali Appa Rao and member Gondu Sitaram visited Koppu Gundu Palem on Monday. Speaking to the media, they urged parents to be watchful about their children’s activities so as to prevent negative influences and criminal behavior. They cited the impact of internet on youth, suggesting that this contributed to an increase in anti-social and criminal tendencies.
