Anakapalli police crackdown on illegal activities
Visakhapatnam: The Anakapalli district police conducted a series of operations aimed at combating illegal activities and maintaining law and order. The primary targets of these operations included the illicit liquor trade, sand mining, ganja cultivation, cockfighting, gambling, and other anti-social activities.
In Nakkapally mandal, police detained three individuals participating in a poker game in Chinaddigallu village, seizing Rs 5,500 in cash, ten two-wheelers, and poker-related paraphernalia. Similarly, a raid in Gotivada village of Sabbavaram mandal resulted in the arrest of four individuals involved in a coin game, with authorities confiscating Rs 3,900 in cash and five coins.
The police also intensified efforts to enhance road safety. They registered 57 cases against individuals consuming alcohol in public spaces, filed 378 cases to deter helmetless riding, and arrested 20 individuals for drunk driving. Additionally, 599 traffic violations were documented, leading to e-challans totalling Rs 1,56,490.
In collaboration with the special enforcement bureau (SEB), a joint operation led to the seizure of 20 litres of illicit liquor and the destruction of 1,700 litres of jaggery used for liquor production. Thirteen cases were registered, resulting in the arrest of eleven individuals connected to these offences.
SP M. Deepika highlighted the importance of ongoing vigilance against anti-social elements and instructed police personnel to address public grievances effectively.
