Anantapur Set for Duleep Trophy
Anantapur:The Anantapur Sports Village is all set to host the 17-day Duleep Trophy, starting September 5. Extensive preparations have been made, including stringent security measures around the RDT stadium, major hotels and main roads.
Two teams have already arrived in Anantapur and participated in practice sessions at the Anantapur Cricket Grounds on Tuesday. Anantapur Collector Dr. Vinod Kumar, along with officials from the Andhra Cricket Association and various district departments, reviewed the arrangements on Tuesday evening. The officials inspected the cricket grounds and discussed the necessary preparations for the matches. Escort vehicles will be used to ensure the security of players traveling from the hotels on Raju Road and Ganesh Circle to the RDT stadium, approximately four kilometers away.
The Collector emphasized the importance of managing the entry of players, VIPs, and pass holders into the stadium, as well as ensuring security in the galleries. With large crowds expected, vehicle entry to the stadium will be restricted, and parking will be provided outside the venue. Food courts will be established to cater to the needs of visitors.
"The Duleep Trophy will be celebrated as a festive occasion for Anantapur. Students from JNTUA, SK, and Central University should be allowed to watch the matches," directed the collector.
Present at the review were BCCI representative Amith, APCA president Prakash Reddy, RDT sports director Sai Krishna, Ranji cricketer Shabuddin, and several others.
