Andhra Pradesh: 249 Booked for Drunk Driving
Vijayawada: In a crackdown on drinking and driving, Vijayawada city police booked 249 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol, imposing fines totalling Rs 26.90 lakh over the last 30 days.
Following directives from NTR district commissioner of police (CP) S.V. Raja Sekhara Babu, traffic police conducted special drink-and-drive checks at major traffic junctions during the evening and night hours between October 2 and November 2.
The violators were subsequently presented before the local magistrate, where judges R.V. Sharma and Lenin Babu imposed fines of Rs 15,000 on 40 individuals and Rs 10,000 on 209 individuals, resulting in the substantial total.
Union Bank of India conducts walkathon for Vigilance Awareness Week
Vijayawada: As part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2024, Union Bank of India organised a walkathon to promote awareness about corruption and the importance of transparency. The event was flagged off by Vijayawada zonal head C.V.N. Bhaskara Rao, along with regional head Muvvala Sridhar and other officials, at BRTS Road on Saturday.
Bhaskara Rao emphasised the banking sector's responsibility to combat corruption, stating, "Corruption has become a bane for society." Regional head Sridhar highlighted the need to adhere to the Central Vigilance Commission's guidelines to enhance integrity in daily operations.
