Andhra Pradesh: 30, 000 kg of Ganja Destroyed
A total of 30,005 kg of ganja and 35.26 litres of hashish oil, linked to 259 cases, were destroyed.

Visakhapatnam: Alluri Sitharama Raju police on Friday destroyed over 30,000 kg of seized cannabis worth over Rs 6 crore at the Coastal Waste Management Project (incinerator) in Parawada mandal of Anakapalle district.
The seized contraband, linked to multiple cases registered between 2022 and 2024, was destroyed following protocols outlined in the ministry of finance notification dated December 23, 2022.
The process was conducted under the supervision of senior officials, including Visakhapatnam range deputy inspector general Gopinath Jatti, Alluri Sitarama Raju superintendent of police Amit Bardar and Anakapalle SP Tuhin Sinha and a few others.
A total of 30,005 kg of ganja and 35.26 litres of hashish oil, linked to 259 cases, were destroyed.
ASR district police chief Amit Bardar said a total of 316 ganja cases were registered in the ASR district in 2024. Out of these, 943 accused were arrested, and 23,366.25 kg of ganja along with 315 vehicles were seized.
The police also seized 91.2 kg of hash oil estimated to be worth around Rs 12.32 crore. Additionally, 343 accused involved in previously registered NDPS cases were arrested, he added.
The police highlighted the establishment of nine static check posts and 233 dynamic vehicle checking points along key transportation routes, equipped with CCTV cameras and dog squads to prevent possible ganja transportation in ASR district.
The police said drones, satellite imageries, and time-lapse analysis played a crucial role in the ASR district to combat ganja cultivation. Four drones, along with one drone from a private firm were deployed to survey 274 villages covering 16,870 acres.
