Andhra Pradesh: Adoni MLA Seeks ST Status for Valmikis

The MLA stated that the commission member assured him they would check the status and take steps to resolve the matter.

Kurnool: Adoni MLA Dr P.V. Parthasarathi said he has requested officials at the ST Commission office in Delhi to include Valmikis in the state in the ST list. While campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections, he visited the ST Commission office on Saturday and discussed the issue with commission member Asha Lakra.

He pointed out that Valmikis are classified as ST in some districts of Andhra Pradesh but as BC in others. He recalled that they have been fighting for years to be included in the ST list across the state. He also mentioned that a resolution was passed in the Assembly, and the related file was sent earlier. The MLA stated that the commission member assured him they would check the status and take steps to resolve the matter.

Vikrant Patil takes charge as new SP

Vikrant Patil took charge as the new superintendent of police of Kurnool district on Saturday. He stated that strict measures would be taken to maintain peace and security in the district, with special attention to crimes against women and children.

He emphasised the need to curb rising cyber crimes and announced his plans to enhance preventive measures along with enforcement. Public awareness campaigns will be launched to educate people about digital arrests, Aadhaar-linked fraud, and scams involving credit card limit increases. Short video clips on cyber fraud prevention will be disseminated through schools, colleges, police officers, and media. To create a crime-free society, the SP said CCTV surveillance would be expanded in villages and towns using CSR funds. He said that CCTV cameras play a crucial role in solving cases and identifying suspects. He requested the public to cooperate with the district police in crime prevention. Later, he held a meeting with district police officers.
