Andhra Pradesh: Child Rights Commission Demands Investigation into Suspected Trafficking Case

Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) has directed the Railway Police to carry out a thorough investigation into a recent incident involving nine girls detained at Visakhapatnam Railway Station under suspicious circumstances.

Commission member Gondu Sitaram issued the directive on Sunday, calling for a comprehensive report on the case. The investigation will explore multiple angles, including whether the incident pertains to human trafficking or legitimate employment recruitment.

"We need to understand the full scope of this situation," Sitaram said in an official statement. The Commission has specifically requested clarification on the timing of the case registration, following concerns raised on social media regarding potential delays in police response.

The Railway Police have been instructed to provide detailed information about the circumstances surrounding the girls' detention and the events leading to their discovery at the station. The findings will inform recommendations to be submitted to the state government by the Commission, led by Chairperson Kesali Apparao.

The Commission emphasised that the findings of the report will play a crucial role in strengthening preventive measures and improving response protocols for similar cases across the state.
