Acting on the complaint, officials from the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and police arrived at Madhavi’s house. But she attempted to hide the girl

Vijayawada: A woman allegedly tortured her own daughter as she thought the child is an obstacle for her extramarital affair near Sattenapalli railway station in Palnadu district.
According to Sattenapalli inspector, Brahmaiah, the woman identified as Madhavi, 30, was living in a rented house with her 5-year-old daughter. She made her living by working in two houses as a maid. Her husband had died around four years ago.
She allegedly denied food to her child for five days and branded her with a hot iron rod. Disturbed by her condition, locals reported the matter to Childline. Acting on the complaint, officials from the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and police arrived at Madhavi’s house. But she attempted to hide the girl. However, officials located the child and took her into protective custody.
Madhavi was taken into police custody and a case was registered against her. The child has since been shifted to a child welfare home for further care and rehabilitation.
