Andhra Pradesh: Eastern Discom Speeds Up Power Restoration
Visakhapatnam: In the wake of heavy rains, AP Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) has taken up restoration of disconnected services on a war footing, its chairman and managing director Immadi Prithvithej said on Sunday.
He disclosed that rains have affected 3,299 service and 56 agricultural connections across nine mandals and 60 villages within the five circles of APEPDCL. To facilitate rapid restoration, generators, pole drilling machines, poles, transformers and other necessary equipment have been allocated to all section offices.
The CMD said priority is being given to main uninterrupted power supply to government hospitals, cell towers and offices of emergency services.
Damage has been reported in five circles, particularly Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Eluru, where 365 personnel and 32 special teams are working round the clock on restoration works.
He explained that 60 villages in nine mandals have reported damage to 3,251 out of 3,299 service connections, 58 out of 67 11KV poles, 70 out of 78 LT poles, and 20 out of 26 distribution transformers, along with 42 out of 56 agricultural connections.
Prithvithej advised consumers to be cautious about disconnected power lines, downed poles, and damaged transformers.
