Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister reviewing state’s 'damaged' finance position

Payyavula gets grand welcome in Anantapur

ANANTAPUR: Finance minister Payyavula Keshav said on Monday that he would review the state financial position, including the budget allocations and expenses in the last five years of the YSRC government.

He reiterated the charge that the previous government has imposed huge burdens on the state in terms of debts -- by pledging government properties and taking huge loans.

Keshav, who won the Uravakonda assembly seat for the fifth time --and the first time on a TD ticket -- and was elevated as finance minister, arrived to a grand welcome in Anantapur on Monday.

Telugu Desam MLAs, leaders and cadres arranged the welcome event at the Batla Sunkulamma Goddess Ttemple on the outskirts of Gooty, bordering Kurnool district.

His supporters arrived at the venue in a large number of vehicles to greet the minister who arrived for the first time to his native district after taking charge as finance minister.

Anantapur MLA Venkateswara Prasad, Guntakal MLA Jayaram, Kalyandurg MLA Surendra Babu, Tadipatri MLA Asmith Reddy, Madakasira MLA MS Raju and several leaders gave a grand welcome to Keshav.

The 50-km-long procession on NH 44 was participated by TD cadres in hundreds of vehicles till it reached the Anantapur headquarters.

Keshav and the other MLAs were welcomed by TD leaders at Bellary bypass and the procession wended its way through the main roads.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Keshav claimed that he got a great opportunity to reactivate the systems that were ruptured by the YSRC government in the past five years.

The minister said he would make all efforts for the uplift of the district’s farmers.

Referring to the finance position of the state, Keshav said he would come out with a clear statement only after thoroughly reviewing the matter. “The TD government is firm on improving AP’s finance position to take the state towards faster development,” he stressed.
