Anantapur: Four members of a family were killed after the roof of their house collapsed on them at Chinna Vangali in Chagalamarri mandal in Nandyal district in the wee hours on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Gurusekhar Reddy, 45, his wife Dastagiramma, 38 and their two daughters Pavithra,16 and Guru Lakshmi,10.
The couple had three daughters. The second one studied at a residential school in Proddatur town in Kadapa district while two resided with their parents.
On Thursday night, the family switched off lights and went to sleep. Suddenly, the old metal roof of their houes, wet due to continuous rain, collapsed in late hours, burying all four alive.
Neighbours learnt about the mishap Friday morning and removed the debris. However, they found all four dead. Chagalamarri police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies for post-mortem.
