Andhra Pradesh: Free book distribution launched

Vijayawada: Retired IAS officer and former Krishna district collector Imtiaz Ahmed emphasised the transformative power of books in shaping lives and the future. Speaking at the inauguration of a free book distribution programme organised by the Andhra Pradesh Library Association and Sarvottama Grandhalayam at Sarvottama Library, he highlighted the role of reading in broadening perspectives beyond personal experiences.

Sharing his lifelong reading habit, Ahmed urged students to dedicate a few hours daily to books. He lauded the organisers for conducting the event for over a decade. Dr. Ravi Sarada, General Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Library Association, stated that 2.5 lakh books had been distributed over the past eight years, providing students access to rare and out-of-print books, textbooks, and study materials. She encouraged residents to utilise the programme, which continues for another day.
Prominent doctors, literary figures, and librarians, including Dr. Kamineni Pattabhiramaiah, V. Kesava Rao, and Dr. Gumma Sambasiva Rao, attended the event.
