Goonda Act to be invoked on land grabbers, warns Pawan
Anantapur: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan warned on Friday that the Goonda Act would be invoked if anyone attempts to grab gram panchayat lands allotted for community purposes.
“The entire gram panchayat system collapsed during the YSRC period even as the sarpanches in most of the gram panchayats were YSRC nominees. The present government is firm on the development of gram panchayats,” he asserted.
Pawan Kalyan was addressing the gram sabha in the name of Swarna Grama Panchayat at Mysuruvaripalle in Railway Kodur mandal in Annamayya district.
The deputy CM said an experienced leader like Chandrababu Naidu would be able to bring the state out of the huge debts caused to it by the previous government. “I am ever ready to learn from Chandrababu on aspects of development from every angle,” he said.
While interacting with the villagers of Mysuravaripalle, Pawan Kalyan said every gram panchayat should reserve some land for public purposes. However, a majority of the villages are not able to maintain even a small playground for children and youths, he noted.
“Every gram panchayat should have a playground. But many gram panchayats do not have land in their possession. The entire panchayat system was badly hit during the past five years of the YSRC rule,” he said.
The deputy CM felicitated farmer Narayana who donated 10 cents of land for the gram panchayat of Mysuravaripalle. He urged similar donors to come forward and set up play grounds in every village. “Be a part of the development process of your gram panchayats,” he urged the people.
Referring to the large-scale migrations from Rayalaseema to metros in search of manual work, the deputy CM noted that a Skill Development University would be set up in the state to impart skills to the ordinary people, which would help them get better wages elsewhere too.
