Andhra Pradesh Governor Pays Tributes to Prakasam Pantulu

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer has paid rich tributes to Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, commemorating his 153rd birth anniversary. In a statement from Raj Bhavan here on Friday, the Governor described Prakasam Pantulu, the first Chief Minister of Andhra State, as a great lawyer, prominent freedom fighter, political leader and social reformer. He said Prakasam Pantulu was hailed as Andhra Kesari for his acts of bravery against the British and his contribution to the freedom movement. The Governor stated that the services of Prakasam Pantulu would always be remembered.

Nellore honours Prakasam Pantulu

Tirupati: Glowing tributes were paid to Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, the first Chief Minister of Andhra State, on his 153rd birth anniversary in Nellore district on Friday.

Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy paid tribute to the freedom fighter by garlanding Prakasam's statue in Nellore's market area. Speaking at the event, Vemireddy emphasised that Prakasam's life should serve as an inspiration to all and highlighted his crucial role in both the independence struggle and the formation of the Andhra state.

Vemireddy recalled Prakasam's significant contributions to the Telugu land, including laying the foundation for the prestigious Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati. He also noted Prakasam's efforts to rebuild a dilapidated barrage on the Krishna River near Vijayawada greatly benefited farmers in the Krishna district.

In a separate event, Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy paid homage to Prakasam Pantulu at the local panchayat office. She garlanded portraits of Prakasam, Mahatma Gandhi and N.T. Rama Rao. She stressed that Prakasam's selfless life dedicated to public service should be a model for future generations, praising his administrative skills and commitment to the welfare of the people.

District collector O. Anand paid tributes to Prakasam Pantulu by garlanding his portrait at Nuvvurupadu of Atmakur mandal. He encouraged the youth to draw inspiration from the lawyer-turned-politician who sacrificed his wealth for the nation. The celebrations were also organised at the local collectorate, where joint collector K. Karthik garlanded the portrait of Andhra Kesari.
