Andhra Pradesh HC Limits Sale of Tickets at Hiked Price for Film Devara to 10 Days

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to limit the sale of tickets at hiked prices for the film Devara, starring Junior NTR, to only the first 10 days in the state.

A two-judge bench, led by Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Ch. Ravi, held a hearing on the petition on Wednesday and issued notices to the central government, the state government, and the film’s producer, Suryadevara Naga Vamsi.

P. Siva Kuma Reddy, a resident of Kavali in Nellore district, filed a petition challenging the state government’s memo allowing ticket sales at increased prices for 14 days.

The petitioner’s counsel, G. Sivaprasad Reddy, argued that as per Government Order (GO) 13, only films with a production budget exceeding Rs.100 crore and those with at least 20% of their shooting completed in parts of Andhra Pradesh are permitted to sell tickets at hiked prices for a maximum of 10 days. He contended that the recent memo permitting a 14-day period contradicted GO 13.

The court agreed with the petitioner’s argument, ordered the limitation of ticket sales at increased prices to 10 days, and scheduled the next hearing for the following week.
