Andhra pradesh High Court Gets Two Permanent Judges

Vijayawada: Justice Venkata Jyothirmai Pratapa and Justice Venuthurumalli Gopala Krishna Rao have been appointed as permanent judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Their appointment comes following recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium that the High Court’s two additional judges – Jyothirmai and Gopala Krishna – be made permanent judges of the same court.

Accordingly, the centre has notified appointment of the two additional judges as the permanent judges of AP High Court.

Justice Venuthurumalli Gopala Krishna Rao completed his graduation and post-graduation in law at Machilipatnam. He enrolled as an advocate on April 5, 1989 with the Bar Council of AP. He practiced as an advocate at Avanigadda. He joined AP State Judicial Service as a junior civil judge in 1994. He was promoted as senior civil judge in 1994. He was promoted as an additional district judge in 2016 and posted at Srikakulam. He was transferred to Tirupati as a judge, Family Court, and shifted to Guntur as first additional judge. He was elevated as an additional judge of AP High Court on January 27, 2023.

Justice Venkata Jyothirmai Pratapa pursued her graduation in Tenali. She got her law degree from Acharya Nagarjuna University. She joined the judicial service in 2009 and served as a judge in family court, SC and ST court, CBI court and VAT Tribunal. She worked as a district sessions judge in Visakhapatnam, Prakasam and East Godavari before being made the additional judge of the AP High Court.
