Andhra Pradesh: IAS, IPS officers snubbed

Vijayawada: A senior IAS officer and three senior IPS officers have been asked to “go back” when they tried to meet prospective new chief minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu. They rushed to Naidu by way of a courtesy call or to grease Naidu's palms, at his residence in Undavalli in Guntur district on Thursday.

As the TD-JS-BJP alliance won the elections with a huge majority, Telugu Desam chief Naidu is playing a key role in the formation of the government at the Centre. TD has a crop of 21 MPs from AP to back the upcoming NDA government.

The mood here is thus surcharged. A large number of elected MPs and MLAs are trying to meet Naidu in the guise of congratulating him. Many officials are also making a beeline to his residence.

Naidu held a meeting with the MP-elects at his residence on Thursday.

At this juncture, Guntur district collector Venugopal Reddy, senior IPS officers like former intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu, CID chief N. Sanjay and Kolli Raghurami Reddy were among those who arrived at the Karakatta Road in their vehicles.

The police personnel stationed near Naidu’s residence sent a communication to the officials at Naidu’s residence whether to allow them in or not. A curt “No” was the response from the CM’s residence, as these officials had not sought prior permission to meet Naidu. They were asked to go back.

CID chief N. Sanjay was involved in the inquiry in cases booked against Naidu like the AP skill development scam, the alignment of Amaravati Inner Ring Road etc leading to Naidu’s arrest.

P.S.R. Anjaneyulu had been withdrawn from the election duty and transferred without a posting by the Election Commission.

Kolli Raghurami Reddy played a key role in the arrest of Naidu in the AP skill development scam.

Guntur district collector Venugopal Reddy too was asked to exit as he did not seek prior permission.

All these officials face the allegation that they were close to outgoing CM, Jagan Mohan Reddy.
