Andhra Pradesh: Jain Tirthankar inscription brought back from US
Vijayawada: A Jain Tirthankar inscription engraved on the pedestal of a bronze image has been brought back to India recently from the US. Though the exact spot where the bronze image of Tirthankar was found is not known, the inscription is written in Sanskrit and Kannada and the characters dated back to Saka 1561 and Pramadhi-1639 C.E.
One Devara, belonging to Vaisa Jnati, recorded that the image was given as a gift as per instructions of a pontiff Bhattaraka Sri Dharma Chandra according to Archaeological Survey of India director (epigraphy) K. Munirathnam Reddy.
