Andhra Pradesh: Man Gets Life Sentence in Murder Case
Kurnool: The Ongole Principal and District Sessions court sentenced a 30-year-old man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Wednesday in a murder case involving a woman.
According to the court verdict, the convict, Naguluri Yakobu, a resident of Gadiparthivaripalem village in Cheemakurthy mandal, had been in a close relationship with the victim, M. Lakshmi, for a year but frequently quarreled with her, often while intoxicated.
On the night of February 22, 2020, in a fit of suspicion, Yakobu struck Lakshmi on the head with a stick, causing fatal head injuries. A case was registered at Cheemakurthy police station, and the investigation, led by the then Ongole rural circle inspector P. Subbarao, resulted in the arrest of the accused, his remand, and the filing of a charge sheet.
On Wednesday, Ongole Principal and District Sessions Judge A. Bharathi delivered the verdict, sentencing Yakobu to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000.
