Andhra Pradesh Assembly
Vijayawada: Security has been tightened ahead of the Assembly sessions from February 24 with stringent regulations on entry and movement within the Assembly premises. Officials stated that special entry passes have been issued to ministers, MLAs, MLCs, media personnel, visitors, and police staff. Only those with valid passes will be permitted into Assembly premises.
Different colour-coded passes have been introduced to regulate access to specific areas within the Assembly and legislative council.
Officials further stated that Gate 1 access is restricted to the council chairman, speaker, deputy speaker, Chief Minister and Deputy CMs. The Gate 2 is exclusively for ministers. Gate 4 is reserved for MLAs and MLCs.
Additionally, only authorised personnel will be allowed in the corridors used by the Speaker, council chairman and the Chief Minister. Security officials have clarified that only designated security personnel will be allowed near Gate 4, except for gunmen. Personal assistants (PAs) of ministers and members will be permitted only when necessary.
Government employees not associated with legislative affairs will not be allowed inside the premises. Carrying weapons inside the Assembly or Legislative Council is strictly prohibited. If any member brings a weapon, it must be deposited at the designated "Bell of Arms" inside the premises. Lathis, placards, whistles, and other protest materials are banned within the Legislative Council area. Restrictions were imposed on conducting press conferences anywhere in the premises except at the designated media point inside the Assembly.
