Andhra Pradesh Seeks ₹280.9 Cr for Sports Infrastructure Boost

Minister Ramprasad Reddy urges Centre to fund sports complexes, Khelo India Hockey Centre, and e-sports development in the state

Vijayawada: Minister for transport, youth affairs, and sports Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy on Friday met Union minister for labour and employment Mansukh Mandaviya to discuss development of sports infrastructure in the state.

Ramprasad Reddy sought a substantial allocation of ₹280.9 crore from the Centre to establish sports facilities across all cities in Andhra Pradesh.
Ramprasad Reddy, who is on a visit to New Delhi, proposed a project worth ₹42.62 crore for the construction of a sports complex at Rayachoti. He emphasized the importance of setting up a district-level Khelo India Hockey Centre in the same region.
The minister also urged the Centre to set up a robust e-sports ecosystem in the state. He presented a memorandum requesting financial support of ₹255 crore over next four years to help position Andhra Pradesh as a hub for e-sports in the country.
Reddy praised the NDA government for its recent initiatives including launch of a sports policy and a sports application. He mentioned the establishment of a National Center of Excellence and Khelo India Centres at both the state and district levels as a part of the future sports landscape in Andhra Pradesh.
He highlighted the infrastructure needed for youth development. He stated that the proposed sports complex would include facilities such as a multipurpose hall, athletics track, football field, and a swimming pool.
The Union minister assured him that the Centre would extend all cooperation to the state and announced plans to visit Andhra Pradesh in April.
