AP: 15 projects approved with Rs 44,776 crore investment

Promise to generate nearly 20,000 jobs in renewable energy and food processing sectors: CM

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Thursday that the state government has approved proposals for investment of Rs 44,776 crore, which are expected to generate nearly 20,000 jobs.

The approval was given at the third meeting of the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), chaired by the CM at the Secretariat. Nod was given for 15 projects. These projects are mainly in the renewable energy and food processing sectors.
The Chief Minister directed officials to clear the necessary permissions and ensure that these projects are grounded at the earliest. Permissions have already been granted for projects of ArcelorMittal, which would set up units with an investment of Rs 1.36 lakh crore, NTPC, HPCL and BPCL which are investing Rs 96,000 crore. “All these projects will be grounded in a couple of months.”
Naidu stated, “With the policies that have been adopted by the state government in the past seven months, along with the cooperation being extended to the companies, the investment plans are progressing well. The SIPB, at its first meeting, approved investments worth Rs 83,987 crore; at the second meeting Rs 1,82,162 crore; and at the third meeting on Thursday another Rs 44,776 crore.”
In the past seven months, the SIPB approved projects worth a total of Rs 3,10,925 crore, which would help generate 3,12,576 jobs, the CM stated.
The CM directed the Chief Secretary to hold regular review meetings and get permissions at the state-level and with the district collectors on the progress of the work at ground level.
Organisations like DP World of Dubai and the AP Moller Maersk of Denmark have evinced interest in Davos to invest in the state. Hence, officials should hold consultations with these companies and closely coordinate with them, the CM said, and asked officials to focus on tourism projects too to achieve at least 20 per cent progress in this sector. He said a state-level convener will be appointed to closely monitor the progress and oversee the granting of necessary permissions for these projects.
