Andhra Pradesh: Tribals Carry Heavy Electric Poles for 4 km

Visakhapatnam: In a remarkable display of determination and resilience, the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) people of Neellabanda village in Arla panchayat of Anakapalle district carried 72 electric iron poles from Pitrigadda village to their hilltop village on their shoulders, covering a distance of four kilometers.

As Neellabanda lacked a proper road, the tribals had to carry the heavy electricity poles over their shoulders. This arduous task highlights the constant struggles faced by the community in accessing basic amenities. Despite getting access to electricity, the absence of a proper road continues to impede their daily lives and access to other essential services.

Marri Kamesh, one of the villagers, said, "While we are grateful for the electricity, carrying these heavy poles for such a long distance was extremely challenging. The government shall address the road issue to ensure that we can fully benefit from the electricity and other services." Along with Kamesh, 16 other villagers carried the heavy electric polls.

The situation underscores the need for comprehensive infrastructure development in tribal areas, ensuring not only the provision of essential services but also the means to access them effectively. The community's effort to transport the poles highlights the urgent need for better road connectivity.
