Vizianagaram: The police arrested two siblings in connection with the murder of software engineer Konari Prasad, 28 in Vizianagaram district on Friday.
Vizianagaram SP Vakul Jindal said the arrested duo have been identified as Konari Atchutha Rao, 32, a farmer, and Konari Siva Krishna, 27, who has been preparing for competitive exams. Both are residents of Nemalam village in Therlam mandal, Vizianagaram district.
Konari Prasad, a native of Nemalam village and an employee of a software company in Bengaluru, was found murdered on the road between Nemalam and Burjayvalasa on the night of February 10. Prasad had returned to his hometown a few days earlier as his parents were planning to find a bride for him and arrange his marriage.
The police investigation revealed that Prasad was having an illicit relationship with Atchutha Rao’s wife. Upon discovering the affair, Atchutha Rao informed his brother, Siva Krishna, and the two decided to eliminate Prasad.
On February 10, Prasad visited Atchutha Rao’s house. While returning to his hometown from Buripeta, Siva Krishna invited Prasad to an agricultural field on the outskirts of Nemalam village for a chat.
As Prasad was talking to Siva Krishna, Atchutha Rao, who was waiting at the spot, attacked him with a stick, smashing his head. The brothers then beat him to death and tried to stage the murder as a road accident. They placed the victim’s partially damaged bike near his body to make it appear as if he had died in an accident.
