Andhra Pradesh: Two Police Officers Suspended Over YSRC Leader’s Murder

Anantapur: Two police officers have been suspended following the murder of a YSRC leader in Nandyal district.

Kurnool Range DIG Koya Praveen on Tuesday ordered the suspension of Nandyal Rural Circle inspector Shivakumar Reddy and sub-inspector Nagendra Reddy for alleged negligence in handling the case.

YSRC leader Pasupuleti Subbarayudu was murdered in Seetharampuram of the Mahanandi area on August 4.

The victim was allegedly attacked and killed by rivals. The opposition YSRC has accused the ruling TD government of encouraging violence against its party workers.

Police sources indicate that the suspended officers failed to assess the potential severity of the situation despite known rivalries between the parties involved.

Had they alerted higher authorities about the escalating tensions, the tragedy might have been prevented, sources said.

The murder has sparked outrage and political tensions in the region.
