Anitha Stresses on High-End Technology to Curb Crime in AP

Anitha said given the increasing role of digital evidence in the investigation, it would be good for public prosecutors to organise such programmes.

Vijayawada: Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha called for usage of high-end technology to curb the incidents of crime in Andhra Pradesh. She underscored the need to make people realise how online financial frauds take place.

Addressing a state level workshop on Digital Evidence held under the aegis of Prosecution Directorate at a hotel here on Saturday, the minister said from the time of registering the FIR, the legal system should help people in solving the case. She described police as those who build confidence in the society, while public prosecutors help people get justice.

Anitha said given the increasing role of digital evidence in the investigation, it would be good for public prosecutors to organise such programmes. She appreciated that 50 per cent of those taking part in the workshop are women.

Maintaining that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu examines even the minute details even in small matters, she called upon police and public prosecutors to similarly collect evidence and ensure that the accused get the necessary punishment.

Vijayawada city police commissioner S.V. Raja Sekhar Babu encouraged every house to have a CCTV on lines of a television and a refrigerator to help in crime investigation. He said they are using drones to ease traffic jams in the city, apart from using digital technology to regulate vehicular traffic.

Director of Prosecution Rama Koteswara Rao said technology is helping resolve many cases. He commended Vijayawada police for using state-of-the-art technology for varied purposes.

Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) director R.K. Ravi Krishna underscored the need to curb ganja and narcotics in the state.
