Vijayawada: Minister for home and disaster management, Vangalapudi Anitha, in light of the formation of a depression over the Bay of Bengal causing heavy rains, has urged the administrative machinery to stay alert. She called on citizens, particularly in the Tirupati district areas of Tirumala and Sullurupeta, to remain vigilant due to the heavy rainfall.
The home minister requested that devotees traveling on ghat roads and motorists exercise caution. She ordered residents and officials in areas at risk of landslides to remain alert and be prepared.
Anitha emphasised the need for proactive safety measures in low-lying areas such as Lakshmipuram Junction and Gollavanigunta, which are experiencing swift flooding. She instructed the district administration to take steps to evacuate residents from flood-prone areas to safer locations, ensuring there is no loss of life or property.

She noted the swift flow of water at Malwadi Gundam waterfall in Tirupati and emphasized the need for surrounding residents to stay vigilant, especially after the opening of sluice gates in Sullurupeta and Kalangi.
