AP Assures SC to Fix Boundaries to Kolleru Wildlife Sanctuary in Three Months

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has informed the Supreme Court that it will finalise the fixation of boundaries for the Kolleru Wildlife Sanctuary within the next three months.

A three-member division bench, comprising Justice B.R. Gavai, Justice Augustine George Masih, and Justice Vinod Chandran, heard the case regarding encroachments and the fixation of boundaries at the Kolleru Wildlife Sanctuary in New Delhi on Thursday.

The AP government provided an update on the action plan, reporting that around 5,000 acres of encroachments had been demolished since October 2024, with the exercise continuing. The government is working to remove remaining encroachments to facilitate the boundary fixation.

The court instructed the state to file an affidavit with more details on the exercise by March 19 and scheduled the next hearing for the same date.
