AP Cabinet Abolishes Reverse Tendering System

Vijayawada: The state cabinet decided on Wednesday to abolish the Reverse Tendering System introduced by the YSRC government in 2019. Instead, tenders would be called henceforth under the old system.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu advised the cabinet to implement the new tendering procedure as per the guidelines of the Central Vigilance Commission. The cabinet decided to revive the free sand policy.

The cabinet also approved a proposal to sanction 269 supernumerary posts for Ward Welfare and Development Secretaries in the Grade-II category. The appointments would be made from eligible B.Com degree-holders in the merit list as per the GO MS41.

Clearance was also given to complete the works of the left main canal with a capacity of 6000 cusecs. The existing contract firm would carry out the works.

The cabinet agreed that tenders can be called under LS mode in SoR 2024-25 with an estimated cost of Rs.1226.68 crore .The chief minister directed the irrigation department to ensure that all the reservoirs and ponds are filled in the current season in view of the heavy rains.

The cabinet approved holding of elections for irrigation farmers' associations. The elections would be held under Section 4 of the Andhra Pradesh Farmers Management of Irrigation System Act – 2018 in 90 days.

Approval has been given for reorganization of the Excise department and abolition of the Special Enforcement Bureau. It has been proposed to keep the SEB staff in the Excise department.

The Cabinet approved the removal of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's name as also figures and logos of political parties on Pattadar Passbooks. Nod has been given for issuing the new royal seal on 21.86 lakh Pattadar passbooks. Jagan Reddy’s photos would be removed from 77 lakh survey stones and these stones would be made use of.

It also approved holding of revenue conferences on disputes over freehold lands.

Another decision was to set up 2,774 ration shops.

The cabinet approved release of Rs.11.51 crore for purchase of e-Pos machines.

Another nod was for a proposal to increase the salary of PAs from Rs.18,000 to Rs.36,000 and PSs to Rs.50,000.

The cabinet approved a proposal to sanction 96 posts --four posts per minister (one PRO, one vision maintenance officer, two social media managers) -- and to make the appointments within three weeks.

Nod was given to a proposal to change the name of Krishnapatnam Industrial City Development Ltd (NICDIT) to AP Industrial Corridors Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (AP - ICIDCL) and to change the names of Orvakallu and Kopparthi nodes.

Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy announced the decisions of the weekly cabinet meeting to the media. He said the cabinet held discussions on holding the elections for irrigation societies, which have not been conducted since 2014.

The state government launched e-Cabinet based on an application developed by the National Informatics Center (NIC) in Delhi, he said.

He said drinking water would be provided to the people of Visakhapatnam as also the water required for industries.

The cabinet approved the proposal for granting special remission of prisoner 4461, Konduru Rama Chandra Reddy, 73 years, serving life sentence in jail, for his early release.

The chief minister advised the cabinet to make everyone a participant in the drafting of the vision document Vikasit Andhra @ 2047 and directed the ministers to organize Gram Sabhas to know the aspirations, needs and thoughts of the people.
