Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur asked every citizen to respect law and work together to protect the nation’s honour, unity and sovereignty.
The CJ’s call came after he hoisted the National Flag at the High Court premises on Thursday to mark the 78th Independence Day celebrations. He described Independence Day as auspicious, when we remember great personalities who fought for independence of the nation. He underlined that their patriotism and nationalism should serve as a source of inspiration for the young generation.
Dhiraj Singh Thakur said the Indian judiciary is making all efforts to overcome hurdles towards ensuring that people get justice, equality and liberty. He pointed out that they are making all efforts to ensure delivery of justice even in remote villages by providing all requisite amenities.
At another celebration, AP Legislative Assembly speaker Chinthakayala Ayyanna Patrudu hoisted the national flag and paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. He called for fruitful discussions in the AP legislature on various issues related to people. “Both houses should stand as a testimony for democracy,” he observed.
AP Legislative Council chairman Koyye Moshen Raju greeted the people on the occasion and said if the welfare schemes initiated by the governments to eliminate poverty could reach the poor, it would certainly help set up a good society.
At the AP Secretariat, special chief secretary (Agriculture) B. Rajasekhar called upon people to formulate a plan to transform the state as AP Viksit-2047 just as the centre is taking strides to develop Viksit India-2047. Taking part in the I-Day celebrations, he asked government staff to work together and ensure that every eligible person gets welfare schemes at the micro level.
At Kurnool, AP State Human Rights Commission secretary in-charge and chief executive officer P. Hanumantha Reddy took part in the I-Day celebration and called upon the people to march ahead in their lives, remembering the great sacrifices made by freedom fighters to free the country under foreign yoke.
