AP CM Naidu Launches Ambitious Poverty Eradication Plan in Kuppam

Naidu outlined plans to promote food processing industries in Kuppam, citing the dairy, silk, horticulture and honey production sectors

Tirupati: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday announced an ambitious plan to eradicate poverty in Kuppam constituency.

“This is the starting point for a broader poverty alleviation initiative across the state,” the Chief Minister said at a meeting he held with district and constituency officials on the second day of his Kuppam constituency tour.

Naidu laid out his vision for a "simple government, effective governance."

"We will transform Kuppam into a model constituency - free from poverty at the village, mandal and Assembly levels", he said and asked officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan for Kuppam's development. He stressed the need for both physical and virtual work methods.

Naidu stressed zero tolerance for rowdyism, violence, drug abuse and illegal activities in the state, especially in Kuppam. He ordered the removal of politically motivated "rowdy sheets" (criminal records) and called for strict action against troublemakers.

The Chief Minister also focussed his attention on poverty eradication programmes and development of Kuppam as an education hub through both private and public institutions.

"There will be no more forced public gatherings, grand meetings or noisy convoys with sirens. I have asked ministers to avoid meetings after 6 pm. Officials have been asked to respond swiftly to requests and implement programmes effectively,” the CM said.

Naidu outlined plans to promote food processing industries in Kuppam, citing the dairy, silk, horticulture and honey production sectors. He stressed on improved agricultural practices and youth skill development. “We must solve the drinking water issue by supplying water to every home through NTR Sujala Sravanthi and expedite the completion of pending HNSS branch canal works,” he said.

Naidu spoke about political tensions that kept him away from his constituency. “Officials worked unwillingly, some catering to YSRC leaders' whims, creating a situation that prevented me from visiting and speaking to my people. A murder case was foisted on me, though I had no cases against me until 2019. It pained me to see the systems destroyed. Now, peace must prevail in Kuppam again,” he said.

The Chief Minister asked officials to prepare detailed plans for each department and engage in swift and effective action. "We should see visible changes in Kuppam within the next few months," he stressed.

The meeting was attended by district collector Sumit Kumar, CM’s secretary P.S. Pradyumna, MLC Dr K. Srikanth, Anantapur range DIG Shemushi Bajpayee, SP V.N. Manikanta Chandolu, joint-collector P. Srinivasulu and others.
