AP CM prays for poverty-free society at Goddess Kanaka Durga shrine
Vijayawada: Marking Moolam Nakshatram Day, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu offered silk robes to Goddess Durga on behalf of the state government on Wednesday.
Naidu along with his wife Bhuvaneswari, minister Nara Lokesh and other family members visited the Durga shrine on this auspicious day.
Naidu said temples must maintain sanctity. “Hence we replaced the festival committee with a service committee for the Dasara festival at the Durga temple.” Also present were family members Nara Brahmani and Nara Devansh.
On arrival, the authorities welcomed the CM and his family members with temple protocol and arranged the Antaralaya darshan for them. Endowments commissioner Satyanarayana and temple EO Rama Rao explained the details of the Donor cell to the CM.
Addressing the devotees from the temple premises, Naidu conveyed Dasara wishes to the Telugu people of the two Telugu states and across the country.
He said, “I am lucky to visit Goddess Kanaka Durga on the Moola Nakshatram day, the birth star of the presiding goddess. Lakhs of devotees come and visit Goddess Durga daily with devotion and faith. It is customary to present silk clothes on behalf of the government during Dasara Navaratri celebrations. The Vijayadashami festival is celebrated to mark the victory of good over evil.”
"I offered prayers to the goddess to bless the state in all fields," the CM said, adding, “The Vijayawada Kanaka Durga temple is the second largest temple after Tirumala. It is the belief of the devotees that even if one thinks of goddess Durga and worships her, victory is for sure.”
“Everyone has the responsibility to keep up the sanctity and spirituality in the temples. Innovatively, this year, we have appointed Seva Committees to provide services to the devotees,” Naidu said.
He noted, “Some 5,85,651 devotees have visited the shrine since day one of Navaratri till today. On Wednesday, 67,936 devotees came in. Some 6,96,396 laddus were prepared for the devotees this week. Anna Prasadam was distributed to 1.07 lakh people. As many as 12.55 lakh water packets, 75,000 milk packets and 1.23 lakh buttermilk packets were provided to the devotees.”
The CM stated, “Due to the grace of goddess Durga, there has been plenty of rain this year. There will be more rain and the work of Amaravati and Polavaram will be completed soon.”
He added, “I am praying for a poverty-free society with the grace of Goddess Kanaka Durga. Today, on the occasion of Moola Nakshatra, free darshan and one free laddu was provided to the devotees. In the coming days, the decisions of the temple executive body will be in accordance with the sentiments of the devotees, giving special care to the poor people rather than the VIPs.”
“We respect the traditions, laws and customs of the temples. We will restore the former glory to every temple,'' Naidu stressed.
