AP CMO intervenes on pensions at doorsteps on hilltop village

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has reacted to reports of challenges being faced by elderly members of non-scheduled tribal communities in accessing their old age pensions.

On directives from the CMO, officials of the Anakapalli Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDAPD), mandal development officer, mandal deputy tahsildar and local secretariat staff trekked to the hilltop Koruporu village.
They conducted video-recorded verifications with the pensioners of the village.
Elderly members of the non-scheduled tribal community expressed surprise over officials visiting their homes. They told the officials that historically, they have been collecting their pensions from the secretariat. They have never received pensions at their doorstep.
Authorities noted their concerns and assured them that their pensions in future will be delivered at their homes.
On the occasion, Koruporu villagers requested the officials to improve the road in their village.
