AP committed to promote green energy, says Energy dept spl chief secretary

Vijayawada: Energy department special chief secretary K. Vijayanand highlighted the state's commitment to green energy to meet future demand by encouraging consumers to opt for star-rated appliances, emphasizing financial and environmental benefits.

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Union ministry of power has called upon state designated agencies (SDAs) to intensify efforts in promoting star labelling appliances under Standards and Labelling (S&L) Programme for electronic appliances.

APSECM CEO, B. A. V. Kumar Reddy with media adviser (southern states/UTs) A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy submitted a detailed report of energy efficiency including S&L to Vijayanand and explained about the impact of S&L.
Welcoming BEE's appeal during an interaction, K Vijayanand stressed the state government's commitment to the energy sector. "Under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh prioritizes the provision of 24x7 quality power supply adhering to global standards," he said.

Special CS Vijayanand said, “The star labelling programme has significantly increased consumer awareness of the energy-saving potential of electrical appliances. By assigning 1-5 star ratings, with 5 stars indicating the most efficient models, the programme helps consumers make informed choices. This leads to substantial savings on electricity bills and supports environmental conservation. The state government is fully committed to promoting energy efficiency programmes."

The BEE urged consumers to opt for star-rated appliances for financial and environmental benefits. The bureau recognizing proactive efforts in southern states and Union Territories, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep, pledged full support to advance energy efficiency.
