AP dy. speaker identifies his attackers when in custody as MP

VIJAYAWADA: AP Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju on Sunday announced that he has identified individuals who had assaulted him when in custody of the CID under the erstwhile YSRC regime.
Raghurama Krishnam Raju had been arrested by CID when the former had been a YSRC rebel MP. Subsequently, Raju filed a complaint that he had been tortured while in CID custody and even an attempt had been made on his life.
In this regard, Andhra Pradesh police had on Sunday organised an identification parade of various people among whom the accused had also been present.
Raju, who participated in the identification parade process in the presence of a district judge, identified those who allegedly attacked him from among seven persons standing in the parade.
After the parade, the deputy speaker spoke to media and said that during the parade he had identified five persons who had attacked him while in custody.
Raju said police are looking for Dr. Prabhavathi, the former superintendent of Guntur Government General Hospital, who is a key accused in the case.
The deputy speaker demanded that the then collector Vivek Yadav should also be questioned in the case.
