AP: Four die in mini van crash with parked lorry

Anantapur: Four members of a family were killed, and nine others suffered serious injuries when a speeding lorry collided with their tempo traveller vehicle at Bullasamudram in Madakasira mandal of Satya Sai district on Saturday. The family was returning to KN Palli in Amarapuram mandal after having darshan of Lord Venkateswara Swamy in Tirumala.

Madakasira police reported that the family, consisting of 13 members and relatives of Kempanna, had gone to Tirumala for darshan on Friday. On their return, when the vehicle was about 40 km from their village, it was struck by a speeding lorry coming from the opposite direction. Four individuals—Premkumar (30), Atharva (2), Rathnamma (70), and Manoj (32)—died on the spot.

Local residents alerted the police, and ambulances were dispatched to the scene. The injured were rushed to Madakasira Government Hospital. The victims, including Kempanna, Kenchamma, Geetha Lakshmi, Sujatghamma, Girijamma, Nagamani, Usha, Ammajamma, Sridevi, Swetha, and the driver, sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment.

The bodies were taken to Madakasira Government Hospital for post-mortem before being handed over to the family members. MLA M.S. Raju, TD in-charge G. Thippeswamy, and former minister N. Raghuveera Reddy expressed their shock over the incident and offered their condolences to the bereaved family.
