AP Govt Approves Rs. 11,467 Crore for Amaravati Capital Works

Vijayawada: The state government has issued orders for works that would be undertaken in the Capital Amaravati.

It gave the assent to the proposals for 20 civil works to be executed in the capital by the CRDA. These works will cost ` 11,467 crore.
Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu chaired the 42nd Capital Region Development Authority meeting at the Secretariat in Velagapudi on Tuesday.
The CM approved a fund of Rs 8821.44 crore for various projects in Amaravati and instructed the CRDA to complete the works according to schedules.
Urban development minister P Narayana said, “We have called tenders for Rs 41,000 crore works between 2014-19 and completed works worth Rs 5,000 crore. Today, the CRDA has approved Rs 8821.44 crore for trunk roads and roads to be laid in Amaravati layouts.
Out of these, Rs 3807 crore has been approved for roads in the returned layouts given under the land pooling scheme to the farmers who offered their lands under LPS, Rs 4521 crore for trunk roads, and Rs 492 crore for bungalows of judges and ministers.
The minister recalled that the previous CRDA meeting had approved Rs 11,471 crore works in Amaravati. A total of Rs 20,292. 46 crore has been approved in these two meetings and permission has been given for the works, he said.
Narayana stated that works on 236km of roads and layouts in villages like Nelapadu, Rayapudi, Anantaravaram and Dondapadu of Amaravati have been granted permission. Out of 360km of trunk roads of Amaravati, works for 97.5km have been granted permission.
The minister felt that if the works had been completed in 2014-19, the cost would have been much less. He said that however, due to the delay, the cost of road construction increased by 25 to 28 per cent, the cost of building materials increased by 35 to 55 per cent.
“We will get the approval for some more works in the authority meeting on December 16. By December 15, we will call tenders for the Amaravati works. The tender process will be completed by the end of this month,” he said.
On the involvement of Singapore companies in Amaravati’s development, Narayana said the previous government had filed cases against them. However, the present government is proceeding with its efforts to bring these companies back to take forward the capital’s development, as was decided by chief minister Naidu.
