AP Government Distributes Free Ration Kits to Flood Victims in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: AP government has started distributing free ration kits to those affected by the floods in Vijayawada city and its suburbs. Civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar, agriculture minister K. Atchennaidu, tourism minister Kandula Durgesh and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) formally launched the distribution of free ration kits from the BRTS Road in the city on Friday.

Speaking to media persons, Manohar said following instructions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, civil supplies and marketing departments are jointly distributing a 25-kg bag of rice, one kg of sugar, dal and cooking oil, and two kg of onions and potatoes to each flood-affected family in the flood-hit areas of the city and its suburbs.

“Around 1,100 MDU (mobile dispensing unit) vehicles and thousands of staff from across the state are participating in the free kit distribution drive,” the civil supplies minister underlined. He said steps have been taken to distribute these free ration kits to 70,000 people on the first day itself. Manohar clarified that the free ration kits will be distributed to even families that do not have Aadhaar or ration cards. The kits will be handed over after registering their mobile numbers and personal details.
