Vijayawada: The coalition government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reconstituted the Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board under the Waqf Act, 1995, as amended in 2013 (Act 27 of 2013), and appointed new members to the board. The Secretary to the Government, Minorities Welfare Department, Kati Harshavardhan, issued G.O.MS.No.77 on Friday.
The government order stated that eight members were appointed by exercising powers conferred under Sub-Section (9) of Section 14 and Section 21 of the Waqf Act, 1995, as amended in 2013.
Under the elected members category, Md. Ruhullah (MLC), a Muslim member of the State Legislature, was elected under Section 14 (1)(b)(ii) of the Waqf Act, 1995. Shaik Khaja, Mutawalli, was elected under Section 14 (1)(b)(iv) of the Waqf Act, 1995. (The appointment of this member is subject to the outcome of Writ Petitions No. 23228 of 2023, 23343 of 2023, and 23373 of 2023.)
The other nominated members are Abdul Aziz, Haji Mukarram Hussain (Shia Scholar), Mohammad Ismail Baig (Sunni Scholar), Mohamed Naseer (MLA), Syed Dawood Basha Baqavi, and Shaik Akram.
