Vijayawada: Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu led the chorus of condolences on Saturday following the demise of renowned classical dancer Yamini Krishnamurthy in Delhi.
A Padma Vibhushan awardee, Krishnamurthy was a doyen of Bharatanatyam. Governor Nazeer expressed profound grief over her passing and offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Chief Minister Naidu described Krishnamurthy as a stalwart of Indian classical dance. Born in Madanapalle in 1940, she distinguished herself as the ‘Asthana Nartaki’ (Resident Dancer) at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
A versatile artist, she excelled in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Odissi, earning global acclaim for her Kuchipudi performances.
