AP Govt Deploys 176 Drones for Flood Relief Ops
Vijayawada: Agriculture minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu on Sunday underlined that as per Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s emphasis on utilising cutting-edge technology, they have utilised 176 drones for carrying out relief operations.
Atchannaidu, who briefed human resources development minister Nara Lokesh about the relief and rehabilitation measures being taken up by the state government, emphasised that they started utilising drones from day one itself. To date, they have helped 1.23 lakh flood victims.
The agricultural minister explained that 115 drones had been deployed to reach food and medicines to the needy. 50 drones helped the government supervise the flood situation before extending relief. They utilised 11 drones for carrying out spraying operations to eliminate germs and pests, thereby checking the spread of diseases.
Atchannaidu said a team of technical experts led by Dr. Satyanarayana from Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University Research Directorate collaborated with Drone Corporation for carrying out these innovative operations, yielding unprecedented positive results.
The minister observed that one must always be like a perpetual student, continuously learning about global changes, as frequently advocated by the CM in ministerial meetings.
He maintained that extensive use of drones for assisting victims during natural disasters has been praised by several ministers and senior officials of various departments.
