AP Govt Forms Committee to Study Free Bus Travel for Women Scheme

Vijayawada: In a step closer to implementing free bus travel for women in the state, the government has constituted a Committee of group of ministers to study the "Free Bus Travel for Women" scheme, which has already been implemented in other states. The objective of the committee is to visit these states and examine the functioning of the scheme to develop a suitable model for Andhra Pradesh.

The committee will be headed by the Minister for Transport, with the Ministers for Women and Child Welfare, Tribal Welfare, and Home serving as members. Additionally, the Principal Secretary to the Government in the Transport, Roads & Buildings (TR & B) Department will act as the Convener, responsible for coordinating the proceedings and meetings of the committee.
The committee is tasked with submitting its findings and recommendations to the government at the earliest, aiming to formulate an effective model for implementing the free bus travel scheme for women in Andhra Pradesh.
