AP Govt. To Issue Free Documents for Flood Victims

Vijayawada: The state government would issue certificates and copies/duplicates of lost documents for the flood-affected people free of cost.

An order has been issued to this effect, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said on Wednesday. He said many people lost their important documents in the floods in August / Sept following a depression in the Bay of Bengal and the Budameru floods. Officials have been asked to issue those documents afresh without collecting any fee.

Special Chief Secretary (disaster management) RP Sisodia issued GO-MS-14, allowing officials to issue such certificates to the affected people. It noted that the rains this time have exceeded even the annual rainfall records in a single day in several parts of the AP.

“Due to heavy rains and flooding of the Krishna, Munneru, Godavari and Budameru rivers and the canals thereof, many districts were and normal life seriously hit. There was loss of lives of humans and cattle, damage to huts/ houses, agriculture/ horticulture crops, public/ private infrastructure, industrial units etc. There also was loss of certificates/documents, etc, he noted.

Officials have been advised to conduct a special drive, duly relaxing relevant rules.

Special camps would be held in the affected areas for a week to collect applications from the people and certified copies/duplicate certificates/documents would be issued within the next week without collecting any charges/fees, it was stated.
