AP HC Directs State to File Counter on HRC Appointments
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to submit a counter-affidavit detailing the steps it is taking to appoint the chairman and members of the AP Human Rights Commission (HRC).
A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Cheemalapati Ravi, heard the case on Wednesday and instructed the state to file its counter within six weeks.
Advocate Tandava Yogesh had earlier filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) questioning the delay in appointing the AP HRC chairman and members. The advocate argued that the HRC has been without a chairman and members for the past eight months.
